1. With a partner pair-share ideas about each statement. Whole class discussion: Are the claims fact or fiction? Give supporting reasons What could we do to figure out whether the claims are fact or fiction?

Sample Factor Fiction Claims
do research, design an experiment testing the claims listing materials needed for a potential investigation. Students should also discuss whether each claim is scientifically testable – for example whether “luck” can be scientifically tested.

Guidelines for Fact or Fiction Posters
Each group receives a “Fact or Fiction” statement. You have 20 minutes to draw (no words!), Pictionary - style how would you test the validity of the statement? Don’t forget how data will be collected. Each group will have 2 minutes to share their poster. The class will try to guess your “Fact or Fiction” claim.
