1 Grammar revision October 8/9
Personal Narrative Grammar revision October 8/9

2 Heading Is your heading on the top left? Does it look like this? If not, fix it. Beyonce Knowles Mrs. Trace/Mrs. Mueller Honors 7th Grade Survey Literature Period # 11 October 2012

3 Formatting Check the following. If anything is incorrect, make note of it. Is your entire paper (including your title) typed in 12 pt./Times New Roman font? Is it evenly double spaced with 1 inch margins? (There should not be an extra space between paragraphs.) Are your paragraphs indented? Is your paper between words (2-4 pages?)

4 Commonly Confused Words
After working through your CCW exercises, look at your own paper and correct any words that you might have gotten confused. Pay special attention to: To, too, two Their, there, they’re Affect, effect Your, you’re Where, were, we’re

5 Check for Fragments. Do each of your sentences have a complete subject and a complete predicate? REMEMBER: A subject by itself or a predicate by itself is considered a fragment. (Review grammar lessons 1-2 for a reminder.) Fix any fragments.

6 COMMA RULE: FANBOYS Step one: Circle all the (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so) in your paper. Step two: Is there an independent clause on EACH “side” of the FANBOYS word? IC=Subject + Predicate. If so, a comma MUST go in front of that FANBOYS word. Example: I went to the park, and I played on the slide. If there isn’t an independent clause on either side of the FANBOYS words, you do NOT need a comma. I went to the park and played on the slide.

7 Final Rubric Review Flip open to the final narrative rubric. Let’s read the descriptor for an A essay one more time. What do you need to work on from now until next class so that you earn an A essay?
