Venturing Age Groups Venturers
“Youth Participants”: 14 (or completed 8th grade) - 17 years old “Adult Participants”: years old Eligible to earn awards and hold leadership positions Advisors “Adult Advisors”: 21 years and older CREATED BY CR VENTURING, 2016

“Venturing Crew” Not a “Venture Crew” or “Venturer Crew” “Venturer” Describes a participant in Venturing, not “Venture Scout” “Venturing Advisor” An adult in Venturing Avoid using “Venturing leader” as Venturing is a youth-led organization CREATED BY CR VENTURING, 2016

Organizational Structure
“Area” An organization of councils About 30 nationwide “Region” An organization of areas Central Region, Southern Region, Western Region, and Northeast Region All within a “National” organization “Crew” A unit of Venturers Not divided into patrols “Council” Nonprofit organization for crews in a geographical area nationwide Sometimes split into “districts” CREATED BY CR VENTURING, 2016

VOA Terminology “Venturing Officers’ Association”
“VOA”; consists of youth officers, advisors, and general members “Venturing Committee” An adult body that supports Venturing “Operating Procedures” The guidelines which govern a VOA CREATED BY CR VENTURING, 2016

VOA President, volunteer advisor, & staff advisor “VOA President” A youth officer who is elected or selected Typically has other officers, such as VPs “Volunteer Advisor” Adult who advises specifically for VOA officers “Staff Advisor” A professional (or career) Scouter Supportive role CREATED BY CR VENTURING, 2016

When wearing the green uniform...
Follow all BSA insignia placement policies Should be neat in appearance Shirts should be tucked in Pants do not necessarily have to be Venturing branded Any charcoal gray backpacking shorts or pants CREATED BY CR VENTURING, 2016

When wearing the green uniform...
Both Venturers and advisors can wear knots Adults cannot wear medals earned as a youth Silver Award, Summit, Ranger, etc. The Ranger Award bar may be worn on an adult uniform if earned as a youth Only wear one Venturing Leadership Award medal at a time Up to five pocket-medals may be worn at a time CREATED BY CR VENTURING, 2016
