2. My name is Kendall Hiatt and I am from Marion, Indiana. I
currently live in Fishers with my doggie named Frawley.
I graduated from Ball State University in 2012 with my BS
degree in Elementary Education and a concentration in
Psychology/Counseling.
This is my 4th wonderful year teaching second grade at
WRE. I truly believe this is the best school to teach at as
well as learn at.
I student taught in Carmel at Forest Dale in a Kindergarten
classroom and loved it.
I love spending time with my friends and family, finding a
cozy spot to read, and enjoy any time spent outdoors.

3. Your child has the ability to earn EAGLE bucks when they display exceptional behavior. They can save these throughout the week and spend them on coupons for fun activities.
Every other week we will have celebrations for students who worked really hard to show their best attitude and effort in school.

5. Writer’s workshop will consist of a mini-lesson, independent writing, and sharing. While students are
writing independently, I will
be conferencing with
students and addressing
specific needs.

6. Our Literacy block will consist of whole group, small group, and independent work time. During this time, I will be working with students in small groups and one-on-one. While I’m working with students, the rest of the class will be reading to self, reading with a
partner, or writing a reader’s
response in their journals.

7. Our math program is Everyday Math
Our math program is Everyday Math. Your child will learn many important concepts in math this year. It is very important that your child completes their math home work every evening. We will be working on mastering addition and subtraction facts. A family letter will come home at the beginning of each unit. You can help your child in math this year by helping them with their homework and practicing their math facts.

8. A front-to-back paper will be sent home on Mondays
A front-to-back paper will be sent home on Mondays. It consists of a reading log as well as a reader’s response to a book they’ve read. This is due by Friday. Mondays-Thursdays your child will usually have math homework as well.
All homework will be coming home in their GREEN homework folder. Please help your child learn responsibility by having them give you their
folder to check daily and return in their
backpack. Please make sure to return
notes, papers, and lunch money in the
folder. I will check these daily.

9. Our class will rotate through a 4-day schedule:
”A” day- Technology
“B” day- Art
“C” day- Music
“D” day- Gym
On days we have gym, please send your child to school wearing tennis shoes OR pack a pair of tennis shoes for them to change into.

10. We will take 2 field trips this year to Conner Prairie and the fair grounds. In order to chaperone a field trip, you must have a cleared LEVEL 3 background check on file. The form to complete your background check can be found on the Noblesville Schools website.
*This may take up to two weeks
to be cleared, so be sure to fill it
out in plenty of advanced time.
