2. Curriculum changes
These changes are designed to help students emerge from GCSE Maths and GCSE English with a level of confidence and fluency that will provide a genuine foundation for the rest of their learning and working lives.

3. New GCSE Grades
Higher Tier Grades 4 – 9 Foundation Tier Grades 1 - 5

4. GCSE English There will now be no coursework
The new texts studied are:
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
A Christmas Carol
Macbeth
Blood Brothers
An Inspector Calls

5. GCSE Maths Volume of subject content has increased
Demand is increasing too with harder topics
Total time for exams is increasing from 3½ hours to 4½ hours
A new grading structure from Grade 9 to 1
Greater emphasis on problem solving and mathematical reasoning
Students will be required to memorise more formulae
