VMWare Workstation Installation
Fedora 20 X64 BIT VERSION

Starting Vmware Workstation
Go to the start menu and start the VMware Workstation program. Windows 8 and later will be able to locate this program using the search feature shown on the right. *Note: The following instructions are written starting at the point after the download and/or installation of VMware Workstation (or MS Virtual PC). If you have any questions regarding the download or installation see your instructor.

Creating a new virtual machine.
Select “New Virtual Machine” on the Home page.

Selecting the Configuration Method
For this installation, we will stay with the default of “Typical” configuration. The “Custom” configuration should be done by more advanced users or with the guidance of your instructor. Click Next.

Select “Installer disc image file (iso)” Click Browse

Find the iso image for the installation and Click Next

Install Information (Name)
This step is where we specify the name of the technician that is the author of this. Followed by the username and password you will use within Fedora 20.

Name the Machine Similar to the previous step, we will now choose a virtual machine name. It is best to name the machine after the operating system that it represents. We will also specify the location where we save this machine as well. Click Next

Specify Disk Capacity This is where we set the size our virtual machine may be. Select store as a single file 20GB is fine as a size Note* - This is not how large the operating system will appear on your machine, but simply how large it could get to in the future. Which it will more than likely not reach its max capacity

Verify Settings If everything looks like what you previously specified click Next

Install Updates If prompted, it is best to install updates now so go ahead and let that finish before proceeding.

Installation At this point you simply need to wait for the OS to be completely configured and install. The machine used in the tutorial took approximately 10 mins

Login Log into the VM using the credentials previously specified.
The one used in the tutorial is Username: tech Password: password Your screen should look slightly different than the right because it is an older version

Choose Language Select the language you wish to use as well as you keyboard layout. Select Next until you are prompted to start using Fedora and click that

Getting started screen
At this point, your operating system is completely installed and ready to use. The getting started screen will show up by default. This allows new users to have a starting point to access basic information about the operating system (Fedora 20)

Installation Complete
Your Fedora 10 VM should be ready to go now.
