School Goal #3 – Northwood High School will be Healthy and Responsible.
Supports District Goal (Chatham County Schools will be will be Healthy and Responsible.
Action goals were created to achieve healthy life styles for students through healthy eating habits, physical activity and teacher student interaction while participating in sports. The goals were inspired by the Lets Move program by Michelle Obama.

3. Let’s Move!
“The physical and emotional health of an entire generation and the economic health and security of our nation is at stake.” - First Lady Michelle Obama at the Let’s Move! launch on February 9, 2010
Let’s Move! is an initiative created by First Lady Michelle Obama. The program focuses on childhood obesity. The program offers information for parents and educators about supporting healthy lifestyles for students.
The program discusses healthier food choices within
schools, helping students become more active,
and families having access to healthy,
affordable foods.

Strategy: Implement after school exercise program that is open to all NHS staff and students
Daily exercise activities
Repeat schedule for 8 weeks

9. Get Active Schedule Schedule of Activities
Activities are weather permitting.
All activities for students will begin at 4PM!
All teacher activities will begin at 5PM!

10. Get Active: Action Plan
Students will sign up with the guidance office. Students must sign up before lunch the day before. If they want to participate in Mondays exercise, they will need to sign up Friday before school is over. Students must be approved to participate. If they are a problem student or do not make good grades, they cannot participate in the program.
Teachers will sign up via by lunchtime that day.
