Department of Health and Human Services (HHS): Responsible for preventing the introduction, transmission, and spread of communicable diseases in the United States.

About the HHS

5. FDA: Food and Drug Administration- a federal agency of the US Department of Health and Human Services
FDA helps to speed up innovations that make medicines more effective, safer, and more affordable

6. They help the public get the accurate, science-based information about medicines and foods to maintain/ improve their health.
The FDA regulates/ assures the safety of:
Foods: dietary supplements, bottled water, food additives, infant formulas, etc.
Drugs: prescription and non-prescription (over-the-counter) drugs
Biologics: vaccines, blood and blood products, cellular and gene therapy products, tissue and tissue products

7. Medical Devices: tongue depressors, bedpans, pacemakers, dental devices, surgical implants, prosthetics, etc.
Cosmetics: color additives found in makeup and other personal care products, skin moisturizers and cleansers, nail polish and perfume

11. OSHA: Occupational Safety and Health Association- ensures safe/healthy working conditions by preventing workplace injuries and deaths and holding employers accountable for safe workplaces

12. There is a strict set of federal safety standards to which all businesses must adhere; OSHA inspects workplaces and enforces them.

Proper disposal of hazardous materials
