Innovative polymer-based coatings for anti-graffiti protection Alina DIMA, Vasilica VASILE, Mihaela ION In a world where city-wide urban chaos, architectural mutilation along with environmental pollution is amplifying, leading to the accelerated degradation of buildings, there is a need for a strategy to protect both the built environment and the ambient environment. Façade elements gives value and identity of a building, and the architecture and construction art is measured by the beauty and quality of building finishing. Nanotechnologies have the potential to significantly reduce the amount of organic solvents used to make coatings products, to extend the life of the active ingredients, thus contributing to the protection of the natural environment. The project aims in-vitro experimental researches in order to establish the behaviour in service of innovative, eco-friendly polymer-based coatings. For this purpose it is presented the experimental program which was developed to analyse changes through durability indicators and surface properties of the mentioned coatings. The use of innovative products with special properties besides of the correctly designing and specialized processing are the premises for achieving high-quality façades. Anti-graffiti products form a protective barrier on the concrete surface, hindering the adhesion of coatings or preventing its penetration into the pores of the concrete, which facilitates graffiti paint removal1. A better understanding of the behaviour of innovative materials used to protect building finishes from anthropic aggressive actions allows the selection of a product and optimal ways of putting it into practice, as well as maintenance specifications of such protection works. Extending the use of novel anti-graffiti coatings to the built heritage could be of particular interest providing the treatments are efficient enough in facilitating graffiti removal and long-lasting to maintain their protective properties without interfering with the durability of the substrates2. Innovative polymer-based coatings synthesized through nanotechnology represent the future, enabling the introduction of new cumulative functionalities into a single product. References 1. E. Neto, A.
