2 Conditional Verb Mood The conditional verb mood depends on something else to happen. (when something happens, this happens) Hint: If this, then under these conditions, this happens. Look for words like “might”, “may”, “if”, or “possibly Mood of the verb in the sentence Example: Coraline the cat might catch a bird if we let her outside.

3 Subjunctive Verb Mood This mood shows something this is contrary to reality. It is a hypothetical or a wish. It’s a “what if” situation. Hint: It’s something that will never happen. Look for the word “were”. Example: If John F. Kennedy were alive, my sister would write him a fan mail. Mood of the verb in the sentence Look for the sentence to have a wish, a demand or command, suggestions, and hypotheticals. It has to be were not was
