New Teacher Network Objectives
To develop a sense of ownership and empowerment by recognizing the supportive culture of our community and School District 27-J To gain an understanding of the District’s Student Achievement goals To participate in a culture of reflection, collaboration and networking through a fun and engaging shared experience To receive relative information and support as new District 27J Certified Staff 2:45 – 2:50 Review objectives and remind T that these are the objectives for our current 5 days of induction (NTN) and throughout the year (Long term). Our GOAL today is bullet point four! Induction is required for our district even if you completed induction in another district. You get a salary credit even if you already have a professional license if you attend these classes through induction – You don’t have to pay! If you took these classes outside of induction you would have to pay!

To receive relative information and support as new District 27J Certified Staff: Goals I can identify the assignments, responsibilities and timeline associated with induction. (Evidence: Feel more prepared…) 2. I can identify the variety of supports available to me to complete induction. (Evidence: Feel less anxious about induction…) 2:50 – 2:55 Review each GOAL and provide one example of the evidence associated with that GOAL; emphasize that this is just one example!

Induction I can identify the two pathways to complete induction. Initial and Professional Licensure One Year Pathway Two Year Pathway Attend the five compensated orientation days for new teachers. Attend ONE - 6 night PD session Attend 3 cohort nights = Required for Initial License and optional for Professional License. Participate in two observations of peers and write a short reflection after each observation to post on Edmodo. Reflect each quarter on your teaching, classroom, and students focusing on the questions you have and changes you will make for next year. Post your reflection on the online learning website Respond to four posted reflections. School-site mentor teams will be available for support Attend the five compensated orientation days for new teachers. You’re almost done! 3:15 Required/Licensure/The less time we have to spend on managing who has completed what, the more time that we can spend supporting you and your students! Observations suggested that they do them 1st and 2nd semester but due by the end of the year. Reflections due each quarter – suggested but as long as they are in by the end of the year.

Complete two observations of a peer/mentor in your building. Establish an observational focus - GOAL – Make it meaningful/purposeful to your work. It is your responsibility to make all of the necessary arrangements for the observation. A substitute will not be provided. Share what you saw, heard, and provide feedback if requested. Please don’t evaluate or judge; observe and inquire Write a short reflection about your learning after each observation. Include: Name/Date/Context/Learning or “Take-a-Ways”/Inquiry Questions… 3:15 – 3:20 Review requirements/expectations for observations! It is suggested that they do one observation in the 1st and 2nd semester but both are due by the end of the year. Substitutes are not provided – Observations can be brief – Suggest plan time or observing another team planning after school. Reflections due each quarter – suggested but as long as they are in by the end of the year.

Have T pair up and have a discussion about what the notice and wonder about the reflections; both technical and in terms of the content; share out whole group and record 3-5 responses.
