The social curriculum is as important as the academic curriculum How children learn is as important as what they learn The greatest cognitive growth occurs through social interaction Knowing the children we teach-individually, culturally, and developmentally is as important as knowing the content we teach. SCHOOL CLIMATE

20 RESPONSIVE CLASSROOM SCHOOL CLIMATE 7-Guiding Principles
Knowing the families of the children we teach is as important as knowing the children we teach To be successful academically and socially, children need to learn and practice specific social skills. Five very important skills are: Cooperation, Assertion, Respect, Responsibility, Empathy, and Self-control How we, the adults at school work together is as important as our individual competence: Lasting change begins with the adult community. Become an ACTIVE member of our PTO Attend our school-related events & functions Volunteer in your child’s classroom Serve on one of the various Parent Advisory Boards (Special Ed, Gifted etc.)
