Grant was the only general during the Civil War who received the surrender of three Confederate armies.
Served until 1869 and retired as General of the Armed Forces

Ulysses Grant was the first president to have both his parents living as he entered office.
As president, Grant received a speeding
ticket while riding his horse too fast through
the streets of D.C.
After retiring, Grant invested in a
brokerage firm that went bankrupt,
costing him his life savings.
Grant spent the rest of his days writing his
personal memoirs which were published after
his death and turned out to be a huge financial success
