Discuss which analysis is better and why:
Which is Better? Discuss which analysis is better and why: The writer uses alliteration on ‘the wilderness of wire’ to make the writer really focus on to the words ‘wilderness’ and ‘wire’. The use of alliteration on ‘the wilderness of wire’ further builds tension as the repeated sound of the ‘w’ slows the pace of the sentence. By linking the together words they reflect the image of the tangled and twisted wire of the ‘wasteland’, emphasising the danger into which the man ‘plunged’.

Reflect on your Explosion
In order to make your analysis specific you must: - show you really understand why the technique is effective and - link it to what is happening the text. Task: Go back to your explosions – if you have made any generic comments, use a different colour pen to make them more specific. Challenge: Try to add a specific and original comment to each explosion OMG! Wow! I am so awesome! I reflected on my text explosion and edited it. Now it is the cleverest thing in the whole world!!!!! I’m so unhappy with my explosion of the text! I ain’t been specific enough or explained why the text is effective!

Spot the difference (why is one a G5 and one a G7?)
The writer uses the simile ‘men and girls came and went like moths’ to show how everybody was attracted to Gatsby’s parties. Furthermore the image of the fragility of the moth suggests how powerless the guests are to the enchantment of the party G5 To turn it to a G7

What’s good about this model?
The write uses alliteration to emphasise the decadence and over-the-top sense of indulgence of Gatsby’s parties. The descriptions of the “pastry pigs” and the “garnish…. glistening” create a vibrant image of tables full of amazing food and a feast fit for hundreds of people. The plosive ‘p’ sounds and the guttural ‘g’ sounds mean that the reader can almost hear the excitement and anticipation as the party guests clamour for the food, ‘bewitched’ by the magical atmosphere and sense of occasion.
