Math
Peek-at-the-Week
This week in math we will continue learning shapes. We will learn square, triangle, rectangle, and hexagon. We will continue letting the students free explore with our math manipulatives to get them used to all the various math tools we have in our classroom.
This past week we have learned the letters A-E. Next week we will learn the letters F-J. It would be helpful if you could practice writing these letters each night. You could do this by finding things in your house that start with that letter and practicing finding the letter in your home. We will also learn the words I. Our poem of the week is Hickory Dickory Dock. We will practice finding the word I in the poem.
This week we will begin a unit on Laws and Rules in Social Studies. We will
discuss the difference between a
law and a rule. We will also talk
about why we have both laws
and rules.

Author Study
This week we will continue our author study on Bill Martin Jr.. Some books this week we will look at are Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? and Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You See? These books focus on the
concept of colors. We will also
be reviewing colors all week.
