Session 3: Public and private sector response Policy environment matters when navigating climate change For example - collaboration to remove trade restrictions Strengthen early warning systems

The extreme weather impact crop revenue and livelihoods poses risks to trading systems and aggravates the effects of bad policies, trade bans, lack of adequate infrastructure! Slow down in biofuels and china demand global commodity prices down back to the long run trend Growing net trade deficits in key commodities of SSA Opportunity for Africa but need to increase productivity is important for growth in SSA appropriate policy action is key Session 7: ReNAPRI Regional & Scenarios Consistent with Global Outlook, but prices in Africa remain higher ReNAPRI model can be used to simulated various scenarios related to key uncertainties including exchange rate risk, climate change, etc

Way Forward ReNAPRI: Keep up the good work But…
How change comes about? ReNAPRI needs to focus on action as we go forward Need to innovate to better communicate policy message to farmers, private sector and policy makers. Social Vs Commercial policy: Show the losses associated with social policy crowding out commercial policy So need to continue to improve data systems
