Welcome to Year 3 Mr Lyons, Miss Agnes and Miss Allday Living & Learning inspired by our Faith

2 Procedures School gates open at 8:40.
Children should be ready to line up at 8:55. If the line has already gone, they will have to go into school via the office. School day finishes at 3:35 If your child is going home with someone else please inform me either the day before at pick up or with a letter on the morning of the day.

3 Timetable

4 PE PE will take place on a Tuesday and a Friday
Children wear school uniform and bring in their PE kits. All clothing and PE bags should be labelled.

5 Power of Reading - Books
Here are the titles of the Power of Reading books for the this Term: The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo Moon Man by Tomi Ungerer

6 Targets and Assessment
Children will be assessed in a variety of ways. These assessments will be reported back to parents each term at parents evenings and the end of year report. Targets will be individually set for the children which will help them to know what they have to do to improve.

7 Targets and Assessment cont.
The children will have a mental arithmetic test (Tuesday) and a spelling test (Thursday) once a week and these scores will be recorded in their homework diaries.

8 Topics All of KS2 now study the same topics throughout the year.
Autumn term: Roman Rulers Spring term: Rainforests Summer term: What’s it like in…?

9 Behaviour We use the traffic light system throughout the school to promote positive behaviour amongst children. Green = non verbal warning Amber = verbal warning and miss 5 minutes of play Red = name in pink folder and the parent of the child will be rung to talk about their behaviour and how we can work together to support behaviours.

10 Homework New Homework & Reading diaries
All homework will be published on a Thursday on the website. These will be due back on: Monday: English Tuesday: Mental Maths Wednesday: Maths Thursday: Spellings Please encourage your child to complete their homework independently, helping them when needed.

11 Date for the diary – KS2 trip
Tuesday 7th November 2017 – KS2 trip to Butser Ancient Farm The children will be completing a number of activities linked in to our Autumn topic of the Romans.

12 Reading Reading should take place every evening for around 15 minutes and logged in the diary. Children will choose books from the library each week. 2-3 hours per week should be spent on homework and reading. Reading diaries will be checked weekly.

13 Meetings If you wish to meet with us please ask Mrs Collis and she will make a mutually convenient appointment. If you have a quick question then please wait until we have dismissed all the children at the end of the day and I am happy to discuss any matter that is not confidential.

14 Snacks at Break Time Children may only bring in fruit/vegetables only and water or natural fruit juice. Only water is allowed during class time.

15 Blog and Twitter Please keep checking the Twitter page every day for pictures of what the children have been doing and any messages that may need to be passed on. The blog will be updated every Friday. I will list important dates each week i.e. swimming, class assemblies, carol concerts etc.
