Why youth are incapable of being advocates?
Youth are the target in need of help. Too young to reach or influence decision makers. Long time and effort to be trained and get ready. Allocation of the fund resources.

Global Youth Partners A UNFPA Youth-Led, Advocacy-Based initiative.
In September 2003, Global Youth Partners was born as an advocacy program in 38 countries. “Youth-Adult Partnership”

GYP Egypt 20 young people from the Egypt team developed an advocacy plan based on increased access to information in secondary schools.

GYP Egypt Goals Advocate for establishment of Anti-AIDS clubs (AACs) in 3 secondary schools. Advocate for financial commitment of the government and private sector for the AACs. Advocating for a sustainable system of the AACs.

Challenges The community is unaware of HIV/AIDS as a national risk.
Taboos towards RH and HIV issues among decision makers and influential people. Un-acceptance of the youth-led activities. Fund Allocation.

Preparations Trainings:
Advocate for youth training held by UNFPA in October 2004. UNFPA HQ distant learning E-courses (Advocacy). International and regional peer education trainings (Y-Peer). CEDAW training – UNIFEM. Self-Trainings for updating and developing our skills and information.

Explaining our goal to the school advisory panel. Training of the Students, School Social Workers and Doctors.

But youth went beyond their mission

Beyond the mission UNGASS youth review. National AIDS program (NSP).
Networking with other youth activists and NGOs. Sharing in various international events as HIV advocates.

Beyond the mission GYPs were invited by other NGOs to train their youth teams to imitate GYP success story in other places allover Egypt.

Lessons Learned GYP Egypt proved that:
