Weeks of September 19th – September 30th ELA 3rd Grade News Spelling Words: Vowel Sound in talk Talk Cross Awful Law Cloth Cost Crawl Chalk Also Raw Salt Wall Lawn Always *Spelling Test on Tuesday, September 27. Grammar: Pronouns – Test on Thursday, September 29. Writing: Write to respond Focus Trait: Sentence Fluency Reading/Language/Spelling Main Selection: “The Young Thomas Edison” (Student Book pages ) Comprehension: Our target skill for the next two weeks will be Main Ideas and Details, and summarizing. Students will have a G2 comprehension test on September 30 which will include questions from this story and questions that will show their mastery of Main Idea/Details/Summarization. I will conduct G1 assessments throughout the week to assess mastery. Phonics: Words with au, aw. al, o. Fluency: We will focus on Accuracy this week. *I will take a G1 fluency grade every Friday. Vocabulary Strategies; Categorize and Classify G2 test will be given on Wednesday, September 28. Target Vocabulary: Signal Genius Gadget Invention Laboratory Experiment Occasional Electric *Test on Wednesday, September 28. Reminders *Check and sign your child’s homework folder each night. *Practice fluency each night for 1 minute, three times. *Check folders for book cards. Please sign and return. *Poem (sent home in folder last week) will be recited before the class on September 30. Please practice with your child. Extra time will not be given. If you have misplaced the poem, you can find a copy on our website under “poems.”
