Your church family is probably the best
opportunity to learn how to deal with conflict!
3
Jesus has given his church family step by step instructions
4
So if you are standing before the [1] altar in the Temple, [2] offering a sacrifice to God, and you [3] suddenly remember that someone has something against you. Matthew 5:23 NIV
5
Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar
Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. [21] And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister. 1 John 4:20-21 NIV
6
Your 3 step instructions
[1] Leave your sacrifice, their beside the altar [2] Go and be reconciled* to that person (* to channel an act and change thoroughly) [3] Then come and offer your sacrifice to God Matthew 5:24 NIV
7
“This is how I want you to conduct yourself in these matters
“This is how I want you to conduct yourself in these matters. If you enter your place of worship and, about to make an offering, you suddenly remember a grudge a friend has against you, [24] abandon your offering, leave immediately, go to this friend and make things right. Then and only then, come back and work things out with God. Matthew 5: The Message
8
Points to ponder in dealing with conflict
9
But if we really live and walk in the light of God’s presence, as he is, and is in, we have truly unbroken fellowship, experiencing a shared life belonging to one another, and the sacrificed blood of Jesus, his Son purifies, cleanses, purges and washes us from all wrong and every kind of sin and guilt. 1 John 1:7 various versions
10
All this newness of life is from God, who brought us back to himself through what Christ did. And God has given us the task of reconciling people to him. 19For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people's sins against them. This is the wonderful message he has given us to tell others. 2 Corinthians 5: The Message
11
There is a pattern to model
12
“If your brother or sister sins go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. [16] But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.' [17] If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector. Matthew 18: NIV
13
“Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. [19] “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. [20] For where two or three gather in my name (authority), there am I with them.” Matthew 18: NIV
