CONSIDER MIRIAM Miriam – “rebellion”
Moses’ older sister -- Num. 26:59 And the name of Amram's wife was Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, whom her mother bare to Levi in Egypt: and she bare unto Amram Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister. Micah 6:4 -- For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of servants; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam. What made her a LEADER? Are there lessons for us to learn from this woman?

She Cared for Her Infant Brother
Exodus 1:22 -- And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive. Exodus 1:12 -- But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel. Exodus 2:2 – 4 -- And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months. And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river's brink. And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.

Miriam took advantage of a great opportunity Exodus 2: 5- 10
She obviously did NOT surprise Pharaoh’s daughter by her presence. Neither did Pharaoh’s daughter refuse Miriam’s request or the fulfillment of that promise! Yet, Jochebed would have sorrowed upon this reality: “And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.”

Miriam is known as a prophetess
Moses led the praise to God (Exodus 15: 1- 19) 1 Corinthians 10: 1- 4 Miriam led the women in song (Exodus 15: 20 – 21) Prophetess means “inspired one.” But such did NOT make her the SPOKESMAN for Israel (see verse 1).

Miriam needed to learn her place.
Numbers 12: And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it. God issues HIS decision on the matter – verses 4 – 8 God’s punishment was just – verses 9 – 10 Aaron realizes THEIR sin. God could have been more harsh!

So How is Miriam a LEADER? Romans 15:4
Numbers 20:1 -- Then came the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, into the desert of Zin in the first month: and the people abode in Kadesh; and Miriam died there, and was buried there. Titus 2: 3- 5
