11 APPLICATION/ REGISTRATION

12 BEFORE YOU APPLY Update Passport (should be valid through November 20th, 2014) Research the course and requirements Research YOUR visa requirements Check your calendar (and with your ‘shareholders’ to be sure you are ‘clear to go’!) BEFORE YOU APPLY (Renee) Passports If you are planning to travel abroad and you don’t have an updated passport, NOW is the time to start that process. Passports must be valid 6 months past the end travel date for the course on which you will travel. The name on your passport will need to match the one your plane reservation. Consider if you are a dual citizen, which passport you will use when traveling- this may affect your visa application process as well. You’ll need to submit a copy of your updated passport upon acceptance to a course. Research Once you’ve checked your passport, it’s time to research the courses of interest to you. -Determine what course content, area of the world, even faculty you are interested in studying and traveling with. Check for prerequisites and YOUR eligibility to participate in a particular course. Run the numbers to make sure it fits with your budget expectations. Have the conversations with your employer NOW about taking the time off and if employer reimbursements are possible. -A note about preparation, every year we have students who are surprised by the quick turnaround time to commit to a course, because they haven’t done their research upfront. Now, before the application closes is the time. Visa Next: Do a visa requirement check at the country’s embassy website for special visa requirements. Depending on your nationality and the country you plan to travel to, these requirements will vary. This cost is generally not included in your course program fee, so this is another consideration to take into account. EX. In some cases you may need to apply for your visa in your home country, which would require additional travel. Calendar -Check your calendar for any conflicts with the travel dates, pre travel academic or orientation sessions. You’ll also want to have the conversations with your significant other about travel and cost. From time to time we have a few students who have neglected to do these checks or have these conversations and find themselves in a bit of a jam trying to make it work last minute- sometimes successfully!

However, full tuition scholarships would be adjusted accordingly. To confirm eligibility for a future variance, contact Academic Services.
