Objectives Students will: know their assigned seat
know the rules and routines for the class know what classroom supplies to bring to class. Know how to format your assignments Meet your classmates and teacher

Class Rules I.D.s and planners are required daily.
Hats, sunglasses, IPods, and cell phones need to be off. No gum, food, or drinks other than water (unless you have enough to share with everyone) Bring your own supplies each day. Common courtesies are expected. All other school rules and policies apply.

Class Routines Walk into the classroom.
Turn in your homework, notes, forms into the black tray with the correct period. Attendance- Sign in Sit in your assigned seat. Copy your homework in your planner Work on your bell work. Usually it will be SURF (Sustained Uninterrupted Reading for Fun). Read for 10 minutes. Complete your reading log using any of the Say Something Strategies (Predict, Question, Comment, Connect, Clarify) Pass up your reading log.

Classroom Supplies Supplies you need to bring:
College Ruled Folder Paper Composition Notebook (college ruled) No. 2 Pencils (at least 2) AVID Binder (provided by Ms. Horiuchi) Index Dividers Black or blue pen Pack of post-it notes- annotations Flash drive (provided by N2N House) Location of classroom supplies You are expected to bring your supplies to class EVERYDAY.

Homework Look on the board and write your homework in your planner daily. Planner checks weekly during homeroom.

Paper Format- Assignments
Write your name, period, and date at the upper right hand corner of all your assignments. Write neatly. Use No. 2 pencils or black/blue pens.

M&M Game Directions: Each student will take some M&Ms and place it in their napkin. Please DO NOT EAT the M&Ms. (Don’t worry. I’ll let you eat them later.) Wait until all students have gotten some M&Ms.

M&M Color Code Share something INTERESTING for each color that you chose with your partner. Orange: Your family, hometown, places you have visited/lived Blue: Your hobbies or interests Green: Your career or goals Red: Your most memorable moment Yellow: Something you did this summer Brown Favorite television show
