Hebr. 11:17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac; and he who had received the promises was offering up his only begotten {son} ;

1Pet. 1:6,7 In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials,7 that the proof of your faith, {being} more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

James 1:2-4 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have {its} perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Isa. 48:9,10 “For the sake of My name I delay My wrath, And {for} My praise I restrain {it} for you, In order not to cut you off “Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.

2 Jesus’ Response

Mark 4:38 And He Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”

Mark 4:39 And being aroused, He rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm.

Ps. 33:6,7 By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, And by the breath of His mouth all their host. 7 He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deeps in storehouses.

Ps. 33:8,9 Let all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. 9 For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.

Mark 4:40 And He said to them, “Why are you so timid? How is it that you have no faith?”

Matt. 8:26 And He said to them, “Why are you timid, you men of little faith?” Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and it became perfectly calm.

Luke 8:25 And He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?”

Mark 4:40 And He said to them, “Why are you so timid? How is it that you have no faith?”

3 The Outcome

Mark 4:41 And they became very much afraid and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”

Matt. 26:69,70 Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, and a certain servant-girl came to him and said, “You too were with Jesus the Galilean.” 70 But he denied {it} before them all, saying, “I do not know what you are talking about.”

Matt. 26:71,72 And when he had gone out to the gateway, another {servant-girl} saw him and said to those who were there, “This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.” 72 And again he denied {it} with an oath, “I do not know the man.”

Matt. 26:73,74 And a little later the bystanders came up and said to Peter, “Surely you too are {one} of them; for the way you talk gives you away.” 74 Then he began to curse and swear, “I do not know the man!” And immediately a cock crowed.

Matt. 26:75 And Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said, “Before a cock crows, you will deny Me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly.

Mark 4:41 And they became very much afraid and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”

Matt. 8:27 And the men marveled, saying, “What kind of a man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”
