A storm came up as Jesus and His disciples were crossing the sea.
Jesus was sleeping, and the disciples woke Him up.
Jesus calmed the sea and rebuked the disciples for their lack of faith.
The disciples were terrified.

4. Jesus calmed the storm
Jesus asks about their lack of faith. How can we define faith? Let’s look at some verses that might help us.
Heb. 11:1
complete confidence in a person or plan
contrary to any evidence or lack of evidence
Galatians 3:6
believing what God says
What storms are in your life? How would you respond if Jesus asked you, “Where is your faith?”
Jesus is Lord over creation.

Mark 5:1-20
After they crossed the sea, a possessed man approached them. He lives in the tombs.
The possessed man fell down and pleaded with Jesus.
Jesus asked his name and he said “…Legion, for we are many” (Mark 5:9)
Legion begged Jesus not to send them out of the area.
Jesus sent them into a hear of pigs that ran off a cliff.
The townspeople pleaded with Jesus to leave their region.
The formerly demon-possessed man wanted to go with Jesus.
Instead, Jesus told him to go tell people (Gentiles) about Himself.

Mark 5:1-20
Jesus restored his posture. “And they came to Jesus and saw the demon-possessed man, the one who had had the legion, sitting there, clothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid.” vs.15
Jesus restored his passion. “As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him.” vs.18
Jesus restored his purpose. “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you. And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled.” vs.19-20
Jesus has power for the unseen, spiritual realm. (demons)

Jesus crossed over to the other side of the lake.
A synagogue leader named Jairus asked Jesus to heal his daughter.
Jesus went with him.
A woman who had been bleeding touched Jesus in order to be healed.
Jesus felt the power go out of Him and blessed her for her faith.
Jesus continued on and came to the house of Jairus.

10. Jesus healed a sick woman.
God gives us the measure of faith (Romans 12:3), Faith involves trusting. The woman in our story trusted Jesus for healing. Jesus told her “Your faith has healed you.” Webster defines trust as: “Basic dependence on someone or something. Belief that something will happen or someone will act is a prescribed way.” Trust is found in our belief that the God of Heaven will indeed work on our behalf to bring His perfect will for our lives into being. It comes as a result of our faith, the stronger our faith, the more easily and quickly we trust. Jesus power over sickness/disease.

They said the girl was dead.
They laughed when Jesus said she was sleeping.
Jesus went in with three disciples (Peter, James and John) and the girl’s parents and raised her, but told them not to tell anyone about this.

Sometimes the Lord’s delay brings a greater demonstration of His power. So don’t give up. And when you are tempted to ask God why He is taking so long, remember this principle.
The servants tradition (that death is final) blinded them to God’s power.
The answer to fear is faith. We see this principle a lot. The number one sin of the disciples was a lack of faith. It is our number one problem too.
Jesus has power over death.

13. Jesus returned to Nazareth
Mark 6:1-6
Jesus went to His hometown of Nazareth.
He taught in the synagogue, but the people took offense at Him.
Because of their lack of faith, Jesus did not do many miracles.
