Psalm 43 Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God.

2After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with Him
Mark 9 2After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with Him and led them up a high mountain, where they were alone.
17
There He was transfigured before them.
18
to change into another form, to transform, to transfigure
me-ta-mor-fa’-o to change into another form, to transform, to transfigure Christ’s appearance was changed and was resplendent with divine brightness on the mount of transfiguration

2…do not be conformed to this world,
Romans 12 2…do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed [me-ta-mor-fa’-o] by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

18But we all, with unveiled face, beholding
2 Corinthians 3 18But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
21
His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world
could bleach them.
22
And there appeared before them
Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus.
24
20 Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw Him, immediately
the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth.
25
21 So He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?”
26
And he said, ‘From childhood.
22And often he was thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.’

A picture of hopelessness and despair
35
Jesus said to him, ‘If you can believe,
all things are possible to him who believes.’ Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!’
36
25 When Jesus saw that the people came
running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it: “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!”
37
26 Then the spirit cried out,
convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, “He is dead.”
38
27 But Jesus took him by the hand
and lifted him up, and he arose.

57
What Next? “…the message of the book of Job or the story of Lazarus’ resurrection: tragedy happens, and it deserves to be mourned over (Jesus weeping at His friend’s tomb models this).
58
What Next? The beauty of the gospel is not that tragedies aren’t tragic, it’s that—to paraphrase the poet John Donne—one day death will die. The hope is that even the most terrible tragedies can be weaved into God’s beautiful story of redemption.
59
Satan seems to have a hand in them.
What Next? “We don’t necessarily know why God allows natural disasters to occur; sometimes Satan seems to have a hand in them. But the time to prepare for life’s crises is now, not when they strike.
60
What Next? “Is your faith, hope and trust in Christ, and
are you seeking to live for Him every day, no matter what happens?”
62
Psalm 62 5 My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him. 6 He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved.
63
7 In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God.

The Lord’s our Rock, in Him we hide, A Shelter in the time of storm; Secure whatever ill betide, A Shelter in the time of storm.
66
Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land, A weary land, a weary land; Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land, A Shelter in the time of storm.
67
A shade by day, defense by night, A Shelter in the time of storm; No fears alarm, no foes afright, A Shelter in the time of storm.
68
The raging storms may round us beat, A Shelter in the time of storm; We’ll never leave our safe Retreat, A Shelter in the time of storm.
69
O Rock divine, O Refuge dear, A Shelter in the time of storm; Be Thou our Helper ever near, A Shelter in the time of storm.
70
Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land, A weary land, a weary land; Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land, A Shelter in the time of storm.
