Bachelor’s from ASU, Masters from NAU 10th year teaching Came from the Madison School District Taught 2nd, 4th, 7th, and 8th grade

2 children, Shane (2) and Blake (5 months) Play/coach volleyball Love the Coyotes Starting to train for another ½ marathon!

8th-Grade Math In this course, we will focus on five strands of mathematics, including The Number System, Expressions and Equations, Functions, Geometry, and Statistics and Probability. Students will apply the eight mathematical practices to solve problems, including real-world, using a variety of different methods and be able to explain their thinking.

Mathematical Practices
1. Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them. 2. Reason abstractly and quantitatively. 3. Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others. 4. Model with mathematics. 5. Use appropriate tools strategically. 6. Attend to precision. 7. Look for and make use of structure. 8. Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.

Curriculum Our math resource for this year will be Eureka Math (formerly Engage NY). Students will be provided with materials to be kept in their 3-ring binder. You can also visit my website to download materials, find helpful websites and view weekly assignments.

Homework Homework will typically be assigned on a nightly basis. The purpose of homework is to practice the skills learned in class. Students are expected to show their work on all problems.

Absent Work Students will have one day for each day that they were absent to make up any missed work. It is the student’s responsibility to pick up any work that they missed while they were gone. Please check my website for daily assignments.

Late Work Late work will be accepted up to the date of the module test, with a 10% deduction. No work will be accepted after the module is complete. Missing work will be entered as a 49%.
