The gasless mid-abdomen on this radiograph (A) may represent a pseudo-tumor sign (fluid-filled loops of dilated bowel), although this finding would be impossible to identify without knowing the CT results. Gas in the colon is often seen in closed-loop obstruction because the onset of obstruction is rapid and gut motility is diminished due to the severity of pain. Source: Chapter II-1.
