4 Expectations of Mrs. Beard’s Classroom

5 Don’t… Don’t use your cell phone or personal electronic device in class unless prompted to do so by Mrs. Beard. Don’t EVER put your Chromebook on the floor. NO FOOD OR DRINK in the computer lab. Hard candy (Jolly Ranchers, Tic Tacs, Life Savers, Mints) is OK – but NOTHING YOU CHEW. If it gets our of hand or people abuse this policy, it will change to NO CANDY. Don’t access websites or games unless prompted to do so by Mrs. Beard.

6 Because this is a Computer lab there are tons of Expectations!
Don’t touch anything on Mrs. Beard’s desk. Keep your hands off of your neighbors computer. Interfering with another's work = a zero for you. Print only when specifically told to do so. All printed papers MUST INCLUDE NAME, DATE, BLOCK NUMBER Keep all trash at your desk until dismissed from class, then throw away on your way out the door. We have software that monitors what you are doing at all times. Remember – Mr. Mayfield (and Mrs. Beard) can see what you are doing on your desktops and Chromebooks at all times. When the bell rings you must wait for Mrs. Beard to dismiss you. SAVE YOUR WORK and log off of your computer before leaving the room. If you don’t save it you will have to do it again or get a zero. Saving is your responsibility! Google Docs will save automatically – Word Docs will not. Push your chair in and make sure your desk is clean, keyboard and mouse at front edge of table. Look down your row – does everybody’s desk match? There are more. :o)

7 Hang your backpacks from your chairs.
There is not enough space next to the computers for these materials. Do not place backpacks under your tables or feet. Chromebooks go on the desktop on your table.

8 Use good posture while sitting at the computer.
Eyes level with the monitor Shoulders down, arms relaxed Feet flat on the floor Back supported

9 The Computer Lab is a classroom.
You are here to work on your assignments. You are not here to “play”. If you use the computer for any purpose other than your assignment, it will be considered computer misuse.

10 Consequences for Breaking the Rules
Warning (gets recorded in grade book) Parental Communication (phone call or conference) Office referral (gets recorded in grade book) The teacher reserves the right to bypass previous steps and send you straight to the office on an as needed basis.

11 Homework & Makeup Work Policy
I have planned for every student to have enough time in class to complete assignments. I don’t assign too much homework. That means all work should be done in class and turned in on time. If you are not finished with an assignment and know that you are out of time turn in what you have. You will get partial credit. In the case of an EXCUSED ABSENCE you have one week from the date of your EXCUSED ABSENCE to turn in your work. This is the real world. If you don’t do your work you get a zero. For example: You will not be allowed to turn an assignment in 2 weeks late and get credit for it.

12 While in the lab, students will
The Computer Lab is a valuable tool for learning at Glenview Middle School. While in the lab, students will Follow appropriate code of conduct. Adhere to copyright laws. Practice safe Internet use.

13 See These? You won’t get a signal in here so don’t bother getting yours out. If you use yours, it gets turned in to the office.

14 Let’s have a great year!
