2 6th Grade Physical Education Philosophy
Our focus in 6th grade will be: Daily Student Learning Outcomes (=’s) 100% of grade! MVPA 50% of class time (Moderate to Vigorous Physical Activity) Mastery of movement skills Team Building & Cooperative Activities (sportsmanship, leadership, responsibility, ability to follow instructions and cooperative skills) Life-long fitness activities Safety and Character first!

3 Dressing For PE Days There is NO P.E. uniform for 6th grade, however, students are expected to dress in movement appropriate attire such as: Tennis shoes with laces, tied! Shorts, sweatpants, leggings, and t-shirts Sweatshirts (hoodies) are suggested on colder days rather than zipper jackets for safety reasons.

4 Participation Points = 5 Points a Day
5 points for completing ALL ASSIGMENTS AS INSTRUCTED. 4 points for completing MOST of the assignments as instructed 3 points for completing SOME of the assignments as instructed. Participation includes class instruction time, warm up exercises, running assignments, games, and fitness activities. Students absent from class or excused from participating for the day receive a temporary 0. Those points can always be made up with in the same 6 week grading period.

5 Make Up Assignments Students are responsible for making up all class work. All 6th grade students are given the opportunity to make up assignments every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning from 7:20 to 7:40am. 2 jogging track laps and record name and class period in the make-up log book located in room 801 (6th grade PE classroom). If additional assignments are missed, it is the students responsibility to make arrangements with the teacher to complete.

6 Classroom Expectations
Demonstrate good sportsmanship at ALL times! Give 100% while being SAFE Be respectful to teacher, peers, equipment & surrounding environment Communicate any concerns or problems immediately

7 Daily Procedure Students drop off backpacks
Read agenda and all information on white board Buddy up and head to track Complete 2 lap warm up Meet teacher in location Skill demo and practice Lead up games Closure & Dismissal from field Classroom, wipe hands, pick up back pack, head to next class

8 Donations We have over 600 6th graders!!!
With no sink, the following items would greatly help with sanitation: Hand wipes Kleenex Cleaning Wipes 4. markers, colored pencils, crayons, sheet protectors We also love to give student of the week and incentives: Gatorade (small size 12 packs) Powerade (small size 12 packs)
