3 New York Theatre Workshop
Founded in 1979 by Stephen Graham, the New York Theatre Workshop focuses on helping budding playwrights and directors develop their talents through workshops and productions. Playwrights such as Jonathan Larson (Rent), Tony Kushner (Slavs!), and The Five Lesbian Brothers (Oedipus at Palm Springs) got their start at this theater.

4 New York Theatre Workshop
NYTW has been a pre-Broadway launching pad for such plays as Once and Peter and the Starcatcher. The New Director's Project brings diverse new and established artists together in collaboration.

5 New York Theatre Workshop
The Writer's Circle was formed to focus on developing the work of a single artist over an extended period of time. Rent was the product of one such intensive two year workshop.

6 Kraine Theatre The Kraine Theater was founded in 1984 by Denis Woychuk and is one of the hottest OFF and OFF-OFF Broadway downtown venues. The Kraine Theater is a for profit theatre located on the ground floor of the KGB Bar at 85 E. 4th St. and is currenlty managed by Horse Trade Theater Group.
