2 KOMÁRNO Fortress Soldiers - verbunk Danube – Vah – Žitava Trade path
Gold Fish Komarno is situated at the confluence of the rivers Danube and Vaag. This is why Komárno was a very important trade path and it was also the border town of the Austro – Hungarian Monarchy. The population consisted of soldiers, merchants and craftsmen. For that reason Komárno does not have its own folk culture. Komárno´s folklore was influenced by people from different regions coming to Komárno to defend, to work or to sell goods. In the following short film you will see a traditional dance – danced only by young men who were either going to war or getting ready for their service in the army.
