Cultivating the Fruit of the Spirit is not about polishing our halo or keeping up a good image. That is false and everyone can see through it, especially God. It is about making Jesus Christ visible and making the Gospel attractive.

Being careful to avoid words and attitudes that easily create misunderstanding and division
Be quick to apologise and say sorry
Do not jump to defend yourself when things are said or done against us.
Follow carefully the instructions of Jesus on how we deal with grievances against each other
Avoid all kinds of gossip about others.

But remember, true peace is a Fruit of the Spirit. So we can only do these things when God’s Holy Spirit is present within us and His power is at work in our lives.
