Earthquake is rated as the number 1 naturally occurring hazard by:
UCLA Hospital System
Los Angeles City and Santa Monica
Los Angeles County
Significant fault systems in the state of California
Shakeout is in its 3rd year and expected to generate over 8 million participants

4. Incident Management Team/Hospital Command Center Exercise Objectives
Hospital Command Center established with appropriate supplies and personnel in a timely manner by Security Personnel
Receive and maintain accurate and timely UDARs/damage assessment information from the facility via Command Aware or paper reports
Review Job Action Sheets
Review Incident Response Guide (IRG) for Earthquake
Conduct initial Incident Briefing and complete ICS 201 form
Develop initial operational period, control objectives for earthquake scenario through anticipated challenges or reported concerns, and complete HICS Form 202
Determine Safety Priorities and complete HICS Form 261

Some structure damage to tower – unknown extent
No reports of patient injuries, 2 reported staff injuries from falling ceiling tiles. Assessment ongoing
Media reports of injuries and significant community damage throughout southern California

Utility Status:
Electricity – currently emergency generators are on
Water – pressure diminished but flowing, report of some floods in tower
IT & Communications – intact, external communications challenging
Medical Gas/Vacuum – intact
Sewers – intact
Elevators – tower elevators not functioning - no stuck and occupied
