A three-way valve was used to route the N2 supply either directly to the enclosure or through a temperature-controlled water reservoir via a sparging head and then to the enclosure. The enclosure humidity was monitored using a humidity probe located ≈1 cm from the mounted sample. Images were captured at either 40× or 100× magnification using a CMOS camera mounted to an upright microscope.
