2. Definition and Purpose
GENERAL INFORMATION
Definition and Purpose
The Diploma Supplement was developed by the European Commission, Council of Europe and UNESCO/CEPES. Its purpose is to provide: - sufficient data to improve the international ‘transparency’ - fair academic and professional qualification recognition.  
It is designed to offer a description of the nature, level, context, content and status of the studies pursued and successfully completed by the
student.

4. GENERAL INFORMATION The International Scenario
In the framework of the Lifelong Learning Programme, the European Commission awarded Labels to higher education institutions that demonstrated the correct implementation of ECTS principles and/or the requirements of the Diploma Supplement correctly.
In the period between 2009 and 2013,
- 97 higher education institutions obtained the ECTS Label,
- 329 institutions applied successfully for the DS Label.

5. THE DS AT UNIFE: back to 2012 Reaction: A Specific team composed by
DS conditions in 2012 :
Total amount of DS between January and September: 99
Total amount of graduates between January and December: 2757
Percentage of graduates asking for a DS: 3,6%
DS with SYLLABUS: 81 out of 99 (82% of the DS demanded)
Italian + English: 75 Italian only: 9 ; English only:15
Time for the issue:
DS 8 SECTIONS = 10
DS 8 SECTION + SYLLABUS = 40

7. Solutions adopted Since 2012 the Working Team:
has referred to both professional and academic skills to fill out the missing parts and to translate the missing data belonging to the 8 DS sections;
has carried out several selections to pick out trainees specialised in foreign languages to translate and revise the missing parts of all the degree courses of the last 5 years;
has led the Professors and the Teaching Managers to a full awareness of what the DS really stands for and what it is for, especially in order to complete the syllabus.
All these actions have been accomplished without asking any kind of financial support to the Administration

Some data requested to complete the DS sections, both in Italian and in English, are similar or identical to the ones requested by Erasmus+:

2014: the working team obtains € from the Ministry of Education and cooperates with UniMORE to start the new DS dematerialisation process.
The joined action aimed to:
Digitalize the DS
Acquire the digital signature system
Batch issue
Upload in the student web area four different items:
Italian concise version (8 sections)
Italian full version (8 sections + Syllabus)
English concise version (8 sections)
English full version (8 sections + Syllabus)
