General Course Information
This is a 4-year, full-time course. The courses are set and do not get to choose which ones to do. This program might take longer than 4 years and cannot be shortened.
3
Course Outline This program is year-long Year 1: -Starts off with General Engineering, common to all engineering programs. Year 2: -Mechanical Engineering is taught for the rest of the course
4
From year 2 -4, it is all Mechanical Engineering Here is a list of Year 2 – 4: It is a complete program. Credentials When the course is completed, a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Science in Mechanical engineering will be given. It will look something like this:
6
Costs These are all approximate costs for UBC (Dec 2014). The Tuition fee for a year is $ $1106 for Student fees +$1250 for books and supplies = $ for Education cost
7
Costs If renting, $6200 for a single room. +$4560 for Food and Groceries +$100 for startup costs +$576 for Health Insurance +$400 for personal care =$11,836 for Basic living costs
8
Costs For phone and internet, can cost up to $960. +$1600 for recreation (if needed) +$400 for clothing =$2960 All of this =$22,971 for a year. Of course, this is without scholarships, parents’ support, or any other financial support.

High school Requirements
For calculation in GPA requirements: -English 12 -Chemistry 12 -Physics 12 -Principles of Mathematics 12 or Pre-calculus 12
10
Other Requirements -English 11 -Language 11 -Chemistry 11 -Physics 11 -Principles of Math 11, Pre-calculus 11, or Foundations of Math 12 -Civic Studies 11, Social Studies 11, or First Nations Studies 12
11
UBC English Requirement
You must first: Meet the English requirement. A 70% or higher in the provincial examination of BC English. 2. Achieve the competence standard in the English proficiency test.
12
Competition Competition for this is quite intense, as there are many students applying for the same few spots.
13
Employment Opportunities
This enables jobs like an aerospace engineer, Project Engineer, aeronautic designer, etc. There is a steady growing demand for such people for the next years
14
Extra programs For my purposes, a Master’s degree in Aerospace engineering will open up opportunities in higher level positions.
15
Am I qualified? Based on the information I have gathered, though I have a lot of work ahead of me, I fee; that I could become a candidate for this program. I feel that if I keep up my good work ethic and adequate grades, I will be able to meet the requirements.
