Common Disaccharides in Human Biology. The common disaccharide carbohydrates found in humans are shown above, including lactose, trehalose, maltose, and sucrose. Component monosaccharides and specific α- and β-bond configurations are indicated immediately under each disaccharide. Note that the second glucose molecule in trehalose and the fructose molecule in sucrose are flipped horizontally in the final disaccharide molecule (see carbon numbers).
