Soft, bluish-white metal
It is very easily cut with a sharp knife
Similar characteristics to the metal “Zinc”
Cadmium is known to cause many types of cancer
Cadmium boils at 1409º F
It was discovered by the German Scientist:
Friedrich Stromeyer in 1853

3. Uses For Cadmium
Cadmium is used to create Nickel-Cadmium batteries (rechargeable)
Cadmium is used to create fluorescent paints
Cadmium is used to create solder which is used in electronics
Above Cadmium cylinders are being charged with electricity to remove impurities before they are mixed with nickel to create rechargeable batteries

4. Other Uses
Cadmium phosphors are used to create the green and yellow lights seen on stop lights
Cadmium salts are used to create the different colors of fireworks

5. Health Risks
If exposed to cadmium for prolonged periods of time you could have many problems
If inhaled it could kill you instantly
If you touch it with your bare hands you could have severe skin irritation
