1
Of Suffering and Submission
A Look at Suffering, Submission and the will of God.
2
Up is Down!
3
We Respectfully Submit to injustice for the Lord’s Sake
Spiritual Life Principle:
4
The Command, Submit even to Injustice.
Servants Be Subject… With ALL Respect. Even to the Unjust. Example: Onesimus and Philemon.
5
The Commendation, It is gracious in God’s sight.
To Submit is Commendable. But it must be for commendable reasons. You can’t expect God’s blessing when you have done wrong! Example: Kent Hovind, Unjustly imprisoned for nearly 10 years. Maintains his innocence to this day.
6
The Critical Reason, It Emulates Jesus.
We Endure Because Christ Endured for Us. Isaiah 53, Matthew 5:10, 11. Jesus lived what He preached. So should we… Enduring Injustice goes against the grain of human nature. Invert your view of reality to see in Jesus the example we are to follow. Remember, Up is Down.

Spiritual Life Principle Application:
Declarative Statements of Application: As a Christian, I will respectfully submit to the authorities God has put over me. I will not speak ill of them or be passive aggressive toward them so as to secretly cut them down. I will pray for and offer thanksgiving for those in authority over me that I may lead a peaceful life. 1 Tim. 2:2
8
More Declarative Statements of Application:
I will endure with patience any unjust suffering knowing that how I handle a situation directly reflects the Lord Jesus. I understand that my rights are not my own. I am a slave of Christ Jesus and live first in submission to Him. I will be merciful as God has been merciful to me and so show myself to be His child.
