Need Money For College? Follow these steps to apply for grants, loans, work-study, and scholarships.

•Scholarships: free money based on achievement •Grants: free money based on financial need •Work-study: part-time job •Loans: money that must be repaid FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

First, you apply for an FSA ID

Is My File Complete? Your financial aid is not complete until you receive an award letter from the school you are planning to attend. Your award letter may be mailed to your home address, sent to you by , or viewed on your college student account. The award letter you receive will tell you what types of financial aid you qualify to receive for that academic school year. There may be additional steps or specific school policies that may affect your financial aid. Please read your award letter carefully!

Student Loans Types of Direct Student Loans
Subsidized – No interest during enrollment Unsubsidized – Accrues interest during enrollment Student must be enrolled half-time (6 hours) Repayment begins after 6 month grace period Repayment period between 10 and 30 years. Fixed interest rate of Subsidized 4.45% Unsubsidized 4.45%

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
All students receiving financial aid are required to maintain at least a 2.0 GPA and complete at least 67% of the hours they attempt. If SAP is not met after the first semester, the student will be placed on a Warning status. After a second semester of not making SAP, financial aid will be terminated.

Students are also required to take only courses on the degree plan they are following. Courses taken outside the degree plan are not covered by financial aid. Once you have attempted 150% or more of your degree plan, you will no longer be eligible to receive financial aid.
