2 Mythology is everywhere
Mythology is everywhere! Daily you run across instances of words, city names, companies, literary allusions - and many planets and constellations - that take their name or borrow their theme from myths.

3 Your assignment is to choose something from modern culture and expose its mythological roots.

4 Your choice must fit into one of the following areas of study:
Companies and Groups Stars, Constellations, Planets, Planetary Systems, etc. Words, Phrases, and Expressions Literary and Pop Culture City and Town Names

5 Companies and Groups For Example: Ajax, Amazon, Argus, Atlas, Aurora, Calypso, Delphi, Gemini, Helicon, Hyperion, Mercury, Midas, Nike, Odyssey, Olympus, Orion

6 Stars, Constellations, Planets, Planetary Systems, etc.
For Example: Andromeda, Aquarius, Cassiopeia, Centaurus, Cygnus, Orion, Pegasus, Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Pluto

7 Words, Phrases, and Expressions
For Example: Trojan horse, Achilles' heel, Siren voices, A Cassandra, A mentor, Greeks bearing gifts, a faithful Penelope

8 Literary and Pop Culture
For Example: Tennessee Titans, USC Trojans, Styx, Apollo Theatre, and countless other mythological references… see what you can find

9 City and Town Names Phoenix, Arizona; Venus, Italy;
For Example: Phoenix, Arizona; Venus, Italy; Paris, France; Athens, Georgia, etc.

10 Once you choose your specific topic, conduct research on that topic to find the specific mythological connection to the topic. You will then create a powerpoint presentation that adheres to the following criteria:

11 You Must have at least seven slides…

12 Slide 1 Title Slide: this slide must include the title of your presentation and your name

13 Slides 2 through 6 These slides must define the topic you have chosen, any variation of the topic, and the specific mythological connection. At least one slide should answer the question: How does the mythological connection give meaning to the topic?

14 Slide 7 List of sources: although you are not required to follow a prescribed format, you must include a reference to the internet sites you used to complete the presentation.

15 You are encouraged to use creativity, and you must have at least one graphic (picture or clip art) that relates to your topic on each slide.
