Unconscious memory of emotion is a trigger that brings up memories of emotions when they are not expected. Substitution is using your own SIMILAR feelings to create a realistic response for the character This is different from true method acting. True method uses your own emotions to create a response for a character. This is dangerous.

Given circumstances are situations given to you in the script. These are always facts Catharsis is an emotional release

Emotional recall: You don’t think about the emotions, you feel them. Recalling a past emotional experience transferring the recall to your character’s past heightening your response and action for communicating with the audience Think about what caused the emotion, not the emotion itself. Think about logical action and reaction the character would do because of the situation and personality Emotional Recall

Remember action versus reaction!!! Emotions must be carefully controlled on stage. Method acting can be dangerous if misused.
