Who became Namaan the Humble
r His name means “pleasantness” from the Hebrew “naem” – ‘agreeable’ (Cp. ‘Naomi’)
r He was a captain in the Syrian army in the days of Elisha
r Nevertheless he suffered from Leprosy (2Kings 5:1 – Cp. Num 12:12)
r Though high in office he was obviously loved by his servants and humble enough to be approached by them – and to seek to his enemy for help (Ct. Nabal 1Sam.25:17)
r He became obedient to the advice of Elisha and humbled himself to bathe in Jordan (type of baptism)
r He was the only Leper healed by Elisha though there were “many in Israel” (Cp. Luke 4:27)
