Activity 1 Storyboards are a series of illustrations or images for organising a film. They are used to visually map the film before shooting the different scenes. Film makers use storyboards to plan out the scenes. A storyboard helps you organise your movie into the different scenes and moments. A storyboard shows each shot in sequence, like a comic strip. A storyboard lets you think about what each of the performers will be doing and how the action will take place. Making a storyboard helps you plan the kinds of shots you are going to film.

A storyboard is easy to create.
Activity 1 A storyboard is easy to create. When you have thought about the different scenes and the order in which they are going to happen the next steps is to create a detailed storyboard for each scene. You can write notes to go with the pictures which explain how each scene is to be filmed.

Activity 1 You don’t have to be great at drawing to make a storyboard. You can use stick figures to show what is happening. Here are examples of storyboards. Try to work out what is happening in the stories from these pictures.

Activity 1 Group Task Each home team will be given a short story. Imagine you are making this story into a film. Your task is to create a storyboard for this story using the storyboard template. Once completed the storyboards will be peers assessed by another team. Remember to include the features we discussed.

Be prepared to share your team’s thoughts with the class.
