2 Basic Lines

3 Object Line A heavy, dark line which identifies the visible edge or surface of an object.

4 Hidden Line Broken line, medium thickness. Used to show edges not visible.

5 Center Line Fine, broken line made of alternating short and long dashes. Used to show the center of an object.

6 Dimension Line / Extension Line
Dimension Lines - used to show the extent of a dimension. Extension Lines - Used to extend a point from an object.

7 Leader Fine line used to define a point or area. Grind Surface

8 Cutting Plane Line Used to indicate where an imaginary cut is made through the object.

9 Section Lines Steel Cast Iron Copper, Bronze, Brass Lead, Zinc, Alloys

10 Break Lines Short Break Line Long Break Line

11 Used to show a part has been reduced in length on the drawing to conserve space.
