Tuesday, August 2, 2016 Homework for Parents It is so important to me that we work together as a team and know each other well! In order to start that off, I have a homework assignment for YOU! In 1,000 words or less, write a letter that introduces your child to me. I get to know the “student” side of your child, but I know that there is much more to him/her. Please know that I am only reading it for content – I am not concerned with grammar or spelling, and it can be in any language! This assignment can be turned in as soon as it’s finished, but is due on Friday, August 14, Letters may be sent in with your student or ed to the teacher. Even though there is a “due date,” I will accept these letters at any time during the year! Due: Monday, August 15th, 2016

Tuesday, August 2, 2016 We are Family!
Now that we’ve looked a bit at ourselves, let’s take some time to see how we are all alike as well as what makes us each unique and individual. Tuesday, August 2, 2016 We are Family! All families are made up of individuals. While they have their similarities, they are all different as well. It’s these differences that make families work. If everyone were the same, life would be boring. Families are also a huge part of who we are. Our family values and traditions shape our paths in life. As you listen to the lyrics of the next song, write the following on the notecards provided. Each notecard should only have one thing written on it. 3-5 things that identify you as an individual 3-5 family traditions/values/ideals that have shaped who you are. Song: We are Family (Sister Sledge) The House that Built Me (Miranda Lambert) I’ll Be There (Jackson 5) Fold up your notecards and place them in the basket as it comes around the room. As I read each slip out loud, please stand up if the various statements apply to you. This will help us identify our similarities and differences.
