STUDY TO ASSESS THE LEVEL OF PUPIL ATTENDANCE IN SCHOOL

Introduction LACCODEF is implementing ICT for Community Empowerment in Education Program funded by EDUKANS in four primary schools in Lira and Dokolo District. These schools are Aderolongo PS, Apewotneki PS, Ateri PS and Agwata PS. As part of this project, LACCODEF supported the these schools with a computer with a spreadsheet system to help in monitoring pupil attendance. .

Research Questions In this study, we want to assess the extent to which the use of ICT (school database application) has improved on monitoring of school pupil attendance

Objectives of the study
The percentage of monthly pupils’ attendance at school. Which days/weeks/month experience least/most pupils’ attendance Which individual pupil attends school least/most? What factors influences pupils’ school absenteeism Suggested actions to address absenteeism.

Data Collection Field work to collect data for this study was conducted in the four project schools between Monday 20th to Thursday 23rd October Different data collection tools including structured questionnaires, pupil headcount, and document and system review was used. A total of 291 pupils, 48 teachers, 48 SMC/PTA executives were interviewed.
