Print Layout View vs. Print Preview
Print layout view shows the document as it would be printed as well as allow editing changes to be made to the document. Print Preview Can only view how document will look printed. Can’t edit document.

Margins Defined

Adjust top and bottom margins by dragging on the vertical ruler.
Adjust margins by clicking on Page Layout and clicking on Margins Adjust left and right margins by dragging on the horizontal ruler. Page Margins Appears as a double-headed arrow when positioned over margin on Ruler.

Rulers Displayed in Print Layout View
Horizontal ruler. Vertical ruler. Mouse pointers appear as double-headed arrows when positioned over margin on ruler.

Paragraphs Enter Pressing Enter places a hard return in a document.
Only Enter to force a line ending (such as with address lines) or at the end of a paragraph. (A forced enter is commonly called a hard return.) Enter Pressing Enter places a hard return in a document. Soft return automatically wraps line endings. Paragraph symbols indicate hard returns. This is an optional component. By turning if off (when it isn’t needed), you have more typing area.

With word wrap, should you decide to make your font smaller or larger, the text will automatically adjust to the best line ending.

Inserting Page Numbers
Tab Page numbers aid in keeping keep printed pages in sequential order. Page numbers can be placed in various locations on a page—top, bottom, right, left, center, etc.

Can also insert Page Number from the Header and Footer Tools tab when editing a header or footer.

Also Good to Know By default, text is left-aligned.
WYSIWYG What You See Is What You Get By default, text is left-aligned. To move a tab that has been set already, drag the tab marker to the new location. Most people prefer the Page Layout view (the default view) because it is WYSIWYG. Headers and footers can contain text, graphics, pictures, logos, date/time, and page numbers. The default setting for header and footer margins is .5 Default spacing in Word 2016 is set at single space. F1 in Word 2016 and in most software programs, launches Help. F1: Launches Help
