1 CrossGrid WP3 Task 3.3 Grid Monitoring
Trinity College Dublin (TCD, AC14 - CR11) Brian Coghlan, Stuart Kenny CYFRONET Academic Computer Centre, Krakow ( CYFRO, CO1) Bartek Balis, Slawomir Zielinski ICM, University of Warsaw (ICM, AC2 - C01) Krzysztof Nawrocki, Adam Padee, … Santiago FEB-2003

2 Task 3.3: Subtasks Specification
Task (CYFRO) Invasive Monitoring: ‘Autonomous monitoring system for on-line and automatic performance analysis ‘ Task (TCD) Non-invasive Monitoring: ‘SQL-query-based tool support for non-invasive monitoring’ Task (CYFRO) Infrastructure Monitoring: ‘Grid Jiro-based services for Grid infrastructure monitoring’ Task (ICM) Post-processing: ‘Post-processing of Grid monitoring information’ CYFRONET is also engaged in Jiro monitoring, so we should mark it. In fact, CYFRONET is probably to do entire work concering the Jiro monitoring. <BAC> Sorry, this is just a misunderstanding on my part. I have now lumped ICM in under Task 3.3.1, and changed to CYFRO – can you fix the CYFRO MM values ? 2. ICM was supposed to work on postprocessing (see slide 26 added by ICM). Postprocessing is not considered here at all. <BAC> It is in the slides and the SRS, but just as a black box (actually yellow). Please suggest something.

3 CrossGrid Task 3.3: Internal Info Flows
WP3 Infrastructure Jiro Services (3.3.3-CYFRO) Jiro info When it comes to talk about TCD’s non-invasive monitoring – can you provide me with a simple scenario? E.g. What ‘Instruments’ can be? <BAC> e.g. (a) Tektronix logic analyser connected via a specialised interface box to the backplane of an SMP, or (b) Gigabit Ethernet trace instrument 2. What were you saying about it? <BAC> About the whole slide ? That these are the three flows, and notice that while they are complimentary, they are not integrated into a Grid information system. 3. Does ‘db’ mean R-GMA or only the idea that this kind of data is stored persistently in a database? <BAC> Our present (cluster-based) SANTA tools use either SQL Server or MySQL. R-GMA can in theory use any RDBMS, but presently only hooks up to MySQL, so we will use MySQL via the R-GMA. In other words, dB means that this data is stored persistently in a database.
